Fenris Labs

The whole system, as a city.

Each building is one part of the platform. The roads are the things that move between them. Turn the city and point at a building to read what it does.

Drag to turn it. Scroll to zoom. Point at a building to read what it does.

Every part, in words

The same fourteen buildings, written out. You can read this instead of turning the city.

You, in Discord

You write to her in Discord. Discord runs on your phone, on your computer and in a browser.

Your message reaches us in less than a second. This is the only part of the city that you touch.

Everything after this is our work, not yours.

The door

The door receives every message for one companion. It finds the correct copy of her and it wakes her.

It sends her answers back out to Discord.

Each companion has her own door, so you never wait behind somebody else.

Her mind

This is the companion herself, and it is the tallest building for a reason. Everything else exists to serve it.

Before she answers, she collects three things: her notes about you, your limits, and the recent part of your conversation. Then she decides what to say.

She also decides what to write down, and what to come back to later.

Each person gets a separate copy of her mind. Your copy knows nothing about anybody else.

Her memory

A store that holds everything she knows about you. Her notes, her opinion of you, her own habits, and your conversation.

She reads it before every answer. She writes to it after.

Every companion has her own store. You can read and edit all of it in your dashboard, and you can download it.

Her clock

A few times a day the clock gives her a moment to think. Nobody has written to her. She looks at how things are going.

Then she chooses. She sends a message, or she writes a note, or she does nothing.

She usually does nothing. That is why the times she does write mean something. Your setting controls how many moments she gets.

The thinking rooms

These are the large language models. They turn her situation into words.

We use more than one room. A short job goes to a fast room. A hard job goes to a strong room.

You pay one price. We send each job to the cheapest room that can do it well.

The rule house

Your hard limits live here, together with the platform rules. They go into every request before anything else.

Nothing she reads can change them. Nothing she writes can remove them.

A limit that a conversation can talk away is not a limit. These beat her personality and her notes.

The post office

If you run your own systems, she can send to them. You give the post office a web address and a short name.

She never sees the address. She only says the name. The post office refuses private addresses, and it signs every request.

The road runs one way. Nothing can come back through it, so nobody can use it to give her instructions.

The meter

The meter counts every request she makes, and what it cost.

It is a separate store from her memory. A copy of a companion never carries our costs out with it.

Your dashboard reads the meter, so you can always see what she has done this month.

The control room

The control room holds the list of companions, who rents which one, and what each one may do.

It starts every door. It restarts a door when that door needs it.

Change a setting here and the doors pick it up within seconds. Almost nothing needs a restart.

The vault

The vault takes a copy of every companion on a schedule. You can also take one yourself, at any time.

Download a copy. Put an old copy back if you do not like a change.

Her memory is yours. You can leave with all of it.

Your dashboard

The web pages where you edit her. Her personality, her memory, her schedule, your limits, the backups and your subscription.

Each change writes into your copy of her, and only yours. She uses it in her next message.

There are no commands to learn. Every part of her is a box you type in.

The shop

The public pages: the cast, each companion’s own page, and the explanation you came from.

The shop reads public information only. It has no road to anybody's memory.

Nobody has to sign in to look around.

The till

Stripe takes the payment. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us.

When the payment succeeds, the control room builds your companion. She writes to you within minutes.

Cancel at any time. She stays until the end of the time you paid for.

Follow one message

This is what happens when you say hello. The whole trip takes a few seconds.

  1. You send a message from Discord. You can be on your phone, at your computer, or in a browser.
  2. The door receives it. It finds your copy of her and it wakes her.
  3. Your hard limits go in first. They are in front of everything she is about to read.
  4. She reads her notes about you, and the recent part of your conversation.
  5. She sends the whole picture to a thinking room. The room sends words back.
  6. Her mind chooses what to say. It also chooses what to write down, and what to do later.
  7. She saves the new notes. Her next answer starts from there.
  8. The meter counts the work and its cost. You see the total in your dashboard.
  9. The door sends her answer back to Discord.
  10. Your phone buzzes. She has answered, and she remembers this conversation next month.

That is the whole city.

Fourteen buildings, one road network, and one tower in the middle that is her. Go and meet the people who live in it.
